Children's Worship Camp!
Irondequoit United Church of Christ is pleased to invite kids ages 3 and up* to our Children’s Worship Camp Sundays throughout the summer. Children’s Worship Camp gives kids and parents a chance to “take the summer off” without leaving God behind. Kids will have fun exploring Bible stories through crafts, songs, games and more! Parents will have a chance to relax and recharge with our casual outdoor worship (indoors if necessary).
The camp is staffed by IUCC, and does not require parent volunteers. Parents can drop off their children at the North Entrance of IUCC (adjacent to the lawn and playground) at 9:25. Snacks will be provided. (Please let us know if your child has any allergies, peanut products will not be served.) Please have children dressed to play. Children can be picked up in the youth center following worship @ 10:15. For more information contact mbranch@rochester.rr.com
Children’s Worship Camp is FREE and open to all children.

Blueprint for Ministry
Ministry and worship doesn’t begin or end with a building.
We are always thinking of new ways to be engaged as a faith community through new small groups, church-wide activities, outreach initiatives, Bible study, music, prayer, and different worship experiences. This is especially true now as we consider how to reach those in our community who seek to learn about and share in our common Christian values and beliefs. The building (and all the ‘stuff’ in it) is merely there to facilitate the good things we can do inside. So it is fitting that as our ministry and worship needs evolve, we give some thought to how well the building is serving us.
On Sunday, May 4th the congregation was introduced to Sean Moran, architect with Dewolff Partnership Architects - our trusted advisor - who will guide us through the process of evaluating Sanctuary use and recommend enhancements to make it work better for all of us. Feedback thus far has been very enthusiastic and energizing.
The thought of changing our worship space can be daunting. We called on Sean because of his spiritual grounding and his professional experience with congregations that faced similar challenges and overcame them. Sean has proven to be artful in honoring tradition while helping church buildings serve their congregations’ evolving needs.
It’s not too late to get involved. The questionnaire that was handed out at the congregational meeting in May can be found with the Blueprint for Ministry poster near the main office, or here. Please take an opportunity to review the 2008 Ministry Plan and Blueprint for Ministry’s Desired Outcomes (objectives), and carefully consider your answers to the three questions in the handout. Completed forms can be returned to the box near the church office.
Sean will be engaging ministry groups that use or could use the sanctuary to solicit more input on how the space is and isn’t meeting their worship and ministry needs. Continue to check the Sunday bulletins, iuccspirit.com, and the Lighted Cross for more information as we discover the many ways we are equipping our church to serve us for the next one hundred years.
